PARK UPDATE:
Sandy Point Unit will be closed to vehicle access on Monday, November 11th, 2024. Pedestrian and cyclist traffic is still permitted sunrise to sunset.

Motor Vehicle Entrance Fee of $7.00 is in effect year-round. Fee is waived with a valid Idaho State Parks Passport displayed on your windshield.

Park Hours:

  • Sandy Point: Open 8am-4pm daily. You must have your vehicle outside the gate by the posted closing time to avoid fines.
  • Discovery and Spring Shores Units: Sunrise to Sunset.

Facilities at Discovery and Sandy Point units have been winterized; portable restroom units are available in the parking lot. Spring Shores West (main building) restroom remains open.

Please remember to pick up after your pet and they must remain under your immediate control in off leash areas.

 

 

About the Park

Located just 8 miles southeast of Boise, Lucky Peak State Park is a great place to host your next event. The sheltered picnic pavilions at Discovery are perfect for hosting birthday parties and showers. Sandy Point’s amphitheater is a great fit for larger events like family reunions, weddings, receptions, or corporate parties.  Celebrate with those closest to you while enjoying views of the Boise River.

Note: Pets are NOT allowed (not even in vehicles) at Sandy Point from May 1– October 1st.

Discovery Lower Shelter

  • Shadiest shelter at Discovery
  • Directly on Greenbelt and adjacent to river access.
  • Includes electrical, potable water spicket, lighting, 1 extra- large charcoal grill, picnic tables.

    2 tables 15 feet long, 2 tables 8 feet long

Discovery Middle Shelter

$75.00 per day / 50 people maximum
(Price above includes $25 non-refundable reservation fee)

  • Directly adjacent to restrooms, best ADA access.
  • Closest to horseshoe pits and sand volleyball court.
  • Includes electrical, potable water spigot, lighting, 1 extra-large charcoal grill, picnic tables.

Discovery Upper Shelter

$75.00 per day / 50 people maximum

  • Best river view
  • Closest bike/walking path that overlooks the river and accesses Sandy Point Unit– Lucky Peak State Park.
  • Includes electrical, potable water spigot, lighting, 1 extra- large charcoal grill, picnic tables.

    2 tables 15 feet long, 2 tables 8 feet long

Sandy Point Amphitheater

$75.00 per day / Up to 100 people
$150.00 per day / 101-200 people

  • Natural turf amphitheater with paved stage area overlooking the pond.
  • Includes electrical & 1 extra large charcoal grill, picnic tables.
  • Ideal for larger gatherings like weddings & corporate BBQ’s.
  • Largest parking area.

Additional Information

 

Set Up/Clean Up:
If you plan to use a caterer for your event, arrangements must be made in advance with park staff. Note that larger vehicles dropping off additional seating/supplies are strongly recommended to arrive prior to 9am, and may not be able to navigate some parking areas due to size. We can not guarantee access. Be sure to allow for enough time for clean up after your gathering. A credit card was saved to your reservation at the time of booking to cover any additional cleaning or damage fees. If upon check-out you have not met the requirements listed below, a fee of up to $100.00 will be charged to the credit card on file.

  • There are no violations of terms of reservation contract, permits or park policies (including approved group size).
  • No damages to facilities or grounds
  • All litter are picked up and placed in provided receptacles (this includes cigarette butts).
  • All decorations included pushpins, strings/ropes, and tape are removed.
  • Tables are returned to shelter, if moved for the event.
  • All fires are completely extinguished in the grill.

Cancelation Policy:
Any changes to a reservation or a cancelation of reservation must be made 14 days in advance to the date of use. If cancelled 14 days in advance, all monies paid, excluding the non-refundable reservation fee, will be returned. All monies paid, excluding the security deposit, will be retained in the event of a cancellation inside 14 days notice. Parking is subject to availability and is not guaranteed, no refunds will be issued due to parking issues.
