City of Rocks National Reserve Beginner Hikers Club
Sometimes exploring the outdoors can be a little intimidating, especially if you have never done it before. This fall, City of Rocks is offering a Beginner Hikers Club. This program is for anyone age 13 and over (under 18 is required to have a parent or guardian with them) who wants to learn the basics of hiking in a safe and supportive group with other beginners.
The trails will be easy then increase in distance and/or difficulty, culminating in an epic final hike in the new Graham Creek Canyon Unit in October! The hikes will have plenty of stops and will keep a slow, steady pace. Breaks will be taken frequently and whenever needed. No one gets left behind.
This program is for folks just getting started in the outdoors and is a beginner only program. If you have been wanting to get outdoors but haven’t felt comfortable doing it on your own, this is for you!
Each week you will get an email about the trail and area we will be visiting that coming Saturday. It will discuss the distance, difficulty, elevation gain/loss, and any other tips about the upcoming hike.
We will meet every Saturday at 1 pm at the designated parking lot or trailhead.
Hike Dates: September 9, 16, 23, 30, October 7, and 14
