Hawley’s Landing Campground water service, as well as the Visitor Center and Rocky Point Day Use areas, are under a Boil Water Advisory until at earliest Monday, 6/19/23. The historical water main failed between Plummer Creek and the Visitor Center underneath the weight of construction equipment installing a replacement. Although a patch has been performed and the system flushed, our second bacterial test showed presence of coliform requiring another flushing procedure and repeated testing. We anticipate having clean test and being able to lift the biol water advisory by 6/20/23. This does not affect Chatcolet Campground or Day Use, Osprey or Blue Heron Cabins, or the Plummer Point Day Use Area.
At Benewah Campground, the well pump failed and was replaced Monday 6/12/2023. To bring the system online we will need to fill and rinse the reservoir and lines multiple times to remove any contamination that may have been introduced into the water during the failure or replacement. We anticipate this process to be completed Friday 6/16/23. After that, the water will be available for showers and restrooms, but not for drinking. Benewah Campground will be on a Boil Water Advisory until two separate bacteriological tests have been completed which can be no closer than 24 hours apart. We anticipate having potable water service to the campground by 6/20/2023.
Boil Water Advisories are in effect at both Benewah and Chatcolet/Hawley’s Landing. Please see the following notices:
