Stargazing

Come explore the night sky with us! Stargaze, learn about the constellations, star stories, planets, nebulae, galaxies and so much more! With help from our park interpreters and some practice using our telescopes or viewing screen, you will be an astronomer in no time! Bring your family, friends, and some lawn chairs. Have your own telescope? Feel to bring it, the more the merrier!
The Spring Shores “Blacktop Observatory” is open every Saturday night of the summer season from 9:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Presentation will start at 9:00pm on the Spring Shores Patio. The telescope viewing portion of the night will start at 9:30pm at the end of the WEST parking lot and stay open until 11:30pm.

Directions to Spring Shores Marina’s “Blacktop Observatory”: Take Idaho 21 to More’s Creek bridge and turn right immediately after crossing it. (Just north of milemarker 17). Park entrance is about one quarter mile to your right. Turn right after park entrance and proceed towards the marina office building & WEST parking lot

Please Note:
-There will be no program if there is rain or skies are overcast. Scattered clouds is not a problem.
-Entrance into the state park is $7 per motor vehicle. If you have a valid Idaho State Parks Passport on your entry vehicle your fee is waived and the program is entirely free! State Parks Passports can be purchased for $10 at your local DMV and are associated with your vehicle registration.
