Bat Night – Lucky Peak State Park

Welcome to Bat Nights at Lucky Peak State Park! Join us at the Middle Shelter of the Discovery Unit for a unique night experience at your local state park and contribute to a citizen science project. This is your chance to use a bat detector to listen for bat feeding buzzes and hopefully catch a glimpse of them flying in their natural habitat. Educational and fun bat centered activities, as well as ranger led presentation will be available prior to the “viewing” portion of the night. Bat viewing time is about 20 min after sundown if you don’t wish to attend the presentation and activities.

We want to help you discover why bats should be your new best friend. Learn about the importance bats have to people, ecosystems, the economy, and the threats bats are facing.
Our mission is that you will walk away with a new appreciation for these “enigmatic sky puppies” and get to experience bats in a whole new way. This is a great opportunity for the whole family and Junior Rangers!

Please bring a red-light capable headlamp if you have one.

-Entrance into the state park is $7 per motor vehicle. If you have a valid Idaho State Parks Passport on your entry vehicle your fee is waived and the program is entirely free! State Parks Passports can be purchased for $10 at your local DMV and are associated with your vehicle registration.
