Winter 2021/22 Update:

We have closed campgrounds to camping and now allow camping in the boat ramp parking lots of:

  • Blue Heron
  • Van Wyck
  • Poison Creek

The fee per night for winter camping is:

  • $20 – Idaho Residents
  • $23 – Non-Idaho Residents
  • $7 – Daily Motorized Vehicle Entrance Fee unless Park Pass is properly displayed.

Please remember that campfires are NOT allowed in the parking lot area.


Highway 55 Construction Update for Winter 2021-2022

Construction on ID-55 near Smiths Ferry has been suspended for the winter. Crews have winterized the work zone and removed equipment from the area for the season. The road has returned to two open lanes for drivers and will stay completely open until construction resumes mid-March 2022.  

During fall 2021, crews were able to: 

  • Build 18,253 feet of retaining walls
  • Complete 74 blasts
  • Remove 194,411 cubic yards of materials
