Lake Cascade offers two group camping opportunities, including Snowbank group camp and Osprey Point group yurts, 279 individual campsites in 10 developed campgrounds (with power, sewer, and water at Poison Creek and Ridgeview) two dispersed camping areas with primitive camping, several day use areas, and six boat launch ramps.
Windsurfers and boat sails crisscross Lake Cascade when the afternoon winds kick up. Anglers catch Rainbow Trout, Coho Salmon, or Small-mouth Bass all year long and hikers or mountain bikers traverse a variety of trails within and beyond the park. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, the nearby North Fork of the Payette River offers world-class white water adventure.
Lake Cascade has as many camping options as it does recreational opportunities with hundreds of campsites ranging from primitive to fully serviced hook-ups. The sites are located along 86 miles of shoreline with beautiful views of Lake Cascade and the North Fork Mountain Range.

The park is open year round. Reservations are from the Thursday before Memorial Day to Labor Day. In the winter (snow season), camping is limited and outside of reservations, it is based on a first come first serve. Call the park for details.

Please Note: A signed contract and permit is required. You must sign and return the shelter contract and the permit when you make a reservation for the shelters.

Group Use Permit
- 6% Idaho state sales tax required on all fees.
- Shelter reservation fee of $25.00 is Non-Refundable (does not apply to shelter fee).
- Reservation fee, use fees and cleaning/damage deposit must be paid at the time of the reservation.
- Cleaning Deposit refundable based on cleanliness of shelter and use area.
- All motor vehicles entering the park must pay the $7.00 entrance fee or display a valid Idaho State Parks Passport.
- Parking is limited.
- If you wish to have acoustical music, approval must be obtained from park staff prior to your gathering.
- Shelter hours are from 9:00am to 10:00pm.
- Pets must be on a leashed at all times and owners are responsible for pet clean up.
- Reserved area is limited to the immediate outdoor area surrounding the shelter reserved. Exclusive use of waterfront/beach is no included or permitted.
- All decorations must have prior approval.
- Tent stakes, spikes or ground anchors are not permitted.
- The person making this reservation is responsible for informing all group members, caterers, rental companies and etc. of the above information.
- Groups arriving at the park without a reservation may use the group shelters (provided they are not reserved by another group), subject to Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation rules. Hours and cleanup rules apply.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations that occur twenty-one (21) or fewer calendar days prior to arrival, will be assessed a cancellation fee equal to the first night (base rate). Cancellations that occur more than twenty-one (21) calendar days prior to arrival will be assessed a cancellation fee of fifty dollars ($50.00).Winters (Yearly):

Walk-in prices, no reservation required. The fee per night for winter camping is:
- $20 – Idaho Residents
- $23 – Non-Idaho Residents
- $7 – Daily Motorized Vehicle Entrance Fee unless Park Pass is properly displayed.
Dry camping, no water or electric provided.
Please remember that campfires are NOT allowed in the parking lot area.

Marina Construction
Marina construction will begin in September of 2025 in the Poison Creek Boat Ramp area. The boat ramp and campground will remain opening during this time. Beginning October 1, 2025, the Poison Creek Boat Ramp and Campground will be closed but will reopening for the ice fishing season.

Background
The Idaho Park and Recreation Board approved an agreement with Tamarack Resort to develop a marina on Lake Cascade at Poison Creek at its November 8, 2023 meeting.
A National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review was officially completed on August 27, 2025 and is a requirement for the project to be built. The federal Bureau of Reclamation lead the review process, which included public outreach and an opportunity for Reclamation to receive input on the proposal. Tamarack proposed a marina of up to 200 slips, which will sell fuel and have other services.
The 20-year agreement between IDPR and Tamarack is contingent upon the Reclamation review and approval. Click here to see the details.
History
For more than 30 years, support for marinas on Lake Cascade has been building. In 1991, BOR completed a Lake Cascade Resource Management Plan, which was updated in 2002 and indicated community interest in facilities. In 2004, the Lake Cascade Marina Preliminary Study was completed, which again assessed the viability of marina services on the lake. IDPR, BOR, citizens and businesses and developers worked cooperatively on the study.
Finally, in 2016, Lake Cascade State Park and the department participated in the Cascade Community Review. One of the review’s outcomes was renewed support for development of marina services on the lake.
The department issued a request for proposals for marina services in late 2021, which netted the Tamarack proposal involving the park’s Poison Creek unit and the Lake Cascade Sport and Marine proposal involving the Van Wyck unit.
