Heyburn State Park Marina Construction

Project Overview

The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is making significant and much-needed upgrades to the marina services offered at Heyburn State Park. Construction on Chatcolet Marina beings Spring 2025.  The project increases the number of slips and satisfies the growing demand for marina services. It also addresses aging structures, sedimentation, noxious weeds and shoreline loss, while also enhancing the shoreline to improved public access. The project includes 162 boat slips with 148 covered and 14 uncovered for houseboats. All slips will have power and water. There will be parking spots for 135 passenger vehicles and 19 for trucks with trailer.

Construction

Chatcolet Marina will be undergoing major construction throughout the 2025 calendar year beginning in May, 2025. Construction will necessitate a full closure of the Chatcolet parking area and boat launch

Parking and Access

  • The only access to Chatcolet Lake from Heyburn State Park for boat launches will be at Rocky Point Marina
  • There will be limited parking available by Indian Cliffs (where the trail crosses Chatcolet Road) with about 20 spots
  • Trail of the Coeur d’Alene’s users are strongly encouraged to access the trail outside of Heyburn State Park for this year due to restricted parking
