Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. We are happy to receive your application and will share your information with the Volunteer Coordinators at the parks you selected. Thank you for your patience with response times, up to 7 days, as our staff is often working in the field.

Please note: If you are applying for next year, all parks will contact applicants beginning in October of the current year.

Following is general information about volunteering with Idaho State Parks:

All Volunteers

• All positions are unpaid.
• Park staff choose volunteers based on the current needs of each park.
• Once you are in contact with a Volunteer Coordinator and if you are selected, please share requests with park staff and confirm the duties of the position before you arrive.
• We ask all volunteers to work with Volunteer Coordinators to make sure their time is tracked correctly.

Host Volunteers

• Host volunteers have access to a campsite with a full hookup, which includes water, electricity, and sewer. A few parks may offer only a partial hookup.
• Host volunteers must have a self-contained RV or a properly contained camping set up. Tents are not considered self-contained units.
• Host volunteers stay at least 30 days at one park and work at least 20 to 24 hours per week.

Please note: Host positions in Northern Idaho are very popular. Being flexible with your preferred location and amenities will help increase your chances of placement.
