We are dedicated to addressing the need for more public recreation opportunities and to maintain and preserve state parks and facilities. The Governor and State Legislature appropriated additional funds in recent years to address the backlog of maintenance and capital expansion. This page is where you can find updates on IDPR projects.

Farragut State Park
This is a Farragut State Park group campground for RV sites, campsites, camper cabins and group shelter. Construction started in January 2025.
The project will also develop a centrally located restroom/shower building to service the campground. This will be the first shower house available to the Northside group campers and Equestrian campground users.
This 48-acre forest management project addresses forest overcrowding to reduce wildfire risk in the affected area and create space for a new day use area. Logging reduces the number of trees, which allows the remaining trees to grow strong, creating a forest more resilient to catastrophic wildfire. Trees will remain after the project, shading the new recreation space.
This project is to the east and south of the Scott Group Camp, east of the Equestrian Campground and in the historic Farragut Navel Training base administration area east of Flyers Field. The new day use area will have parking and a trailhead for visitors.
