Brian Beckley Resigns from IDPR Board

Monday January 5, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Boise, Idaho – The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) announced today that Board Chairman Brian Beckley has resigned, effective December 31, 2025. He has expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve Idaho’s citizens on the Park and Recreation Board.

Beckley served on the board during a challenging and unpredictable time, including while visitation soared during the COVID-19 Pandemic and while the department allocated unprecedented funding to improve visitor experience and manage growth. While serving both on the board and as chairman, Beckley improved relationships with lawmakers, partners and stakeholders statewide.

“Chairman Beckley’s leadership, perspective, and dedication to preserving and protecting Idaho’s great outdoors has left a lasting mark on this Department,” said Director Susan Buxton. “While serving on the board, Brian assisted with streamlining systems, improved communication processes, and secured historic funding from the legislature that will benefit Idahoans for generations to come.”

IDPR would be remiss if it did not recognize Chairman Beckley for his deep commitment to serving and working with other board members, as well as IDPR staff. While serving the department, he kept top of mind the important role that employees play in delivering an exceptional experience to Idahoans and visitors alike.

“Brian has always been a strong advocate for both the mission of IDPR and the staff who execute it daily,” Buxton added.

As Chairman Beckley resigns to focus on personal and professional commitments, he leaves the board and department well-positioned for continued success.

The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation extends its sincere thanks to Brian Beckley for his service, leadership, and lasting contributions, and wishes him the very best in his future endeavors.
