Innovative Readiness Training Program 9/30/25

September 19th, 2025

The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) is requesting assistance from the Department of Defense (DoD) or Idaho Army Reserve National Guard (IDARNG) through the Innovative Readiness Training Program (IRT) on two separate projects to benefit public recreational access. The requested assistance from IRT comes at no cost to IDPR beyond the provision of any necessary materials.

Project 1:The first project requests maintenance on the roads to access the Idaho City Backcountry Yurts. The requested assistance includes erosion repair, drainage improvements, and surface restoration on approximately 11.8 miles of roadway:

  • 385 Banner Creek Road – 2.0 miles
  • 394 North Fork Beaver Summit Road and 394B Spur Road – 1.9 miles
  • 393 China Fork–West Fork Road – 4.2 miles
  • 025M Lamar Creek Road – 1.3 miles
  • 362F Spur Road – 2.4 miles

These improvements will ensure safer and more reliable access to the yurts for the recreating public.

Project 2:The second project requests airlift support for 3,000 pounds of lumber to a remote trail bridge project site on the Payette National Forest. The requested assistance would supply the final necessary batch of materials needed to restart a stalled trail bridge project in the Krassel Ranger District on Phoebe Meadow Trail #291, on which IDPR is partnering with Forest Service and volunteer organization to build. The completion of the trail bridge, once all needed materials are on site, would improve public access and protect natural resources of a riparian area through which the public trail is routed.

Any qualified organizations or private individuals interested in conducting or assisting with either of these two projects, or those with questions or objections to DoD or IDARNG participation, should contact the project contact (information below) no later than September 30, 2025. Comments received after this date will be considered a waiver of objections to DoD or IDARNG participation in these projects.
