IRTI Projects

We sponsor projects to educate and support outdoor recreation throughout the State of Idaho. We promote collaborative efforts that encourage safe, responsible outdoor recreation, and we help agencies and organizations with recreation and tourism planning.

Project Snapshots

Be Outside, Idaho
Formerly known as the “Idaho Children and Nature Network,” Be Outside, Idaho (BOI) is an ever-widening network of partners working collaboratively to develop ways to connect children with nature in Idaho. BOI also sponsors a grant program to encourage outdoor activities for youth.

SCORTP
Each state is required to develop a State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Plan (SCORTP).

Idaho Governor’s Conference on Recreation and Tourism
Annual recreation and tourism conference. Often referred to as “ICORT.”

Idaho Campground Directory
An easy-to-use guide that encompasses private RV Parks, Idaho State Parks, US Forest Service, BLM, Bureau of Reclamation, and National Parks. View | Order

Idaho Watchable Wildlife Committee 
A collaborative local/state/federal/conservation effort, led by Idaho Department of Fish & Game’s wildlife diversity program, that promotes awareness, education, and wildlife-based tourism. Produces Idaho’s Watchable Wildlife Viewing Guide and marks statewide viewing sites. 

Idaho Guides
Working with many partners, IRTI helps produce and distribute guides for citizen and visitor use, including Idaho RV Park and Campground Directory, Watchable Wildlife Viewing Guide, Windows to Wildilfe, EarthTracks, Idaho Birding Trail, Idaho Scenic Byways, “Visit Idaho” (Idaho Dept of Tourism & Commerce), and trails guides such as Ridge to Rivers.

Outdoor Recreation Events and Activities
Annual and seasonal events, such as Idaho Free Fishing Day, parks events, bird counts and bird watching, clinics and seminars, safety schools, school programs and summer activities.

Trails
Promoting safe and responsible trail use. IRTI is a member of the Idaho Intragency Trails Coordinating Committee that focuses on non-motorized trail access, education, and information.
