Bear Lake State Park - Fish Haven Development Survey

BACKGROUND: Bear Lake State Park is located in the southeastern corner of Idaho near the Cache Mountain Range bordering Utah. The North Beach Unit is popular for its boat launch and recreational beach access. The East Beach Unit welcomes over 15,000 campers per year with campsites for large groups as well as several serviced and standard sites. The East Beach Unit also has a new campground currently under construction that will provide additional tent, RV, and group camping opportunities. DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT: Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation has obtained an approximately twenty-five-acre site in Fish Haven on the West side of Bear Lake, Idaho along Highway 89. This site was acquired to add additional public amenities and lake access in this popular recreation area. IDPR is applying for a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant to develop this property. The first phase of development will include site access, restrooms, and parking. We would like public input on other potential amenities as we work through the master planning process for this new unit.
