Sandy Point Shin-dig + Women’s Global Event, Disc Golf Tournament

Saturday, May 10, 2014 - 11:00am

On Saturday May 10th, The Sandy Point Shindig and Women’s Global Event Disc Golf Tournament, brought to you by 208 Discs and Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, will take place at Sandy Point, part of Lucky Peak State Park, in Boise, Idaho. Registration is at 10am with tee off at 11am.

This ia a woman's focused disc golf tournament but men are welcome to register and play. The tournament is a Professional Disc Golf Association C-tier sanctioned event. Players will compete in three rounds of 12 holes with a break in between for lunch. There are 60 player positions available. Players can pre-register in Boise at 208 Discs or online at: http://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments/The_Sandy_Point_Shindig_plusWGE_2014

Day of event registration is also available.

The cost for participation is $50 for Pro’s, $30 for Advanced and $20 for Intermediate, Recreational and Junior Players. There is an additional $10 fee for players who are not members of the PDGA. This fee is waived for female players due to this event being part of the Women’s Global Event.

The Women’s Global Event provides the opportunity for women from all around the world to play disc golf at their local participating Women's Global Event. Scores from the rounds of each participating tournament will be submitted and rated by the PDGA. These round ratings will be totaled and averaged to determine the player's "Global Score." The global winner in each division will receive a memorable trophy.

Disc golf is a growing sport; there is a large influx of courses being installed in the Boise area and in parks across the country. The reason for this, is that disc golf is an easy to play, low cost activity that appeals to many demographics of people who enjoy the outdoors. It is a sport played very similarly to golf in play and scoring but uses plastic discs and large metal baskets instead of clubs and ball holes.
