Memorial Day Weekend Events - City of Rocks

Saturday, May 25, 2019 - 12:00pm to Monday, May 27, 2019 - 12:00pm

Saturday, May 25th:
Noon - 4 pm - Life on the Trail
Visit an emigrant camp and sample food from the 1850s at the City of Rocks Visitors Center trail. Our re-enactors will share stories from people who traveled the trail by wagon and kids can make their own handkerchief dolls and try their hand at Pioneer games!

Sunday, May 26th:
Noon - 3 pm - The Story Behind the People Drop in on our Rangers at Camp Rock and Register Rock to learn about the people who traveled on the California Trail and left their names in the Reserve.
4:30 pm - Hike to Pinnacle Pass
Meet with Rangers at Twin Sisters Group Camp area for a hike to Pinnacle Pass. This significant area along the California Trail is only accessible by ranger-led hikes. Families are welcome!
Hike Level: Easy, Duration: about 45 minutes

Monday, May 27th:
11 am - Archaeology Hike
Join the Park's Archaeologist for a hike to important archaeological sites within Castle Rocks State Park. Meet at Stines Creek Picnic Area Info Kiosk (top parking lot at Castle Rocks).
Hike Level: Easy, Duration: about 1 hour

Please arrive early for the hikes and follow entrance and parking regulations. Hikes leave promptly at the set times. Registration is not required for any of the events.
