Dark Night Sky: Connecting the Past to the Present

Experience the dark night sky just as the earliest inhabitants and visitors did. Learn about the importance of dark night sky preservation, view a laser guided tour of the brightest stars and planets in the cosmos, and spend time viewing dark sky objects through provided telescopes and binoculars.Duration: 1 hour to 1.5 hours

All ages are welcome
Location: Equestrian Trailhead Parking Lot at Smoky Mountain Campground
(State Park Entrance Fees Apply)
Please bring your own chairs or blankets
Temperatures after dark can fall significantly from daytime

September 4 – 9:00 pm
September 11 – 9:00 pm
September 18 – 8:30 pm
September 25 – 8:30 pm

Social distancing is encouraged, there will be enough space for people to spread out.
Telescopes will be cleaned/sanitized between groups.
Programs may be cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions.
