At Idaho State Parks and Recreation, we try to keep the rules simple and the fees low. To read all our rules and examine all our fees, follow this link.

Campsite Basics

 

  • Fireworks are prohibited
  • Dogs must be confined or on a leash
  • Dogs are not allowed at Harriman State Park
  • Please camp only in designated areas
  • Quiet time starts at 10 pm
  • Sites cannot be "saved" for someone else
  • All equipment and vehicles must be within the designated camp site
  • Generally stays are limited to 15 days in a 30-day period
  • Check-in time is 2:00 p.m. for campsites and 3:00 p.m. for facilities (local park time).Checkout time is 1:00 p.m. for campsites and 12:00 p.m. for facilities (local park time). Late checkouts may incur additional fees unless prior arrangements have been made.

Fees

The fees collected by Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation go directly back into the operation and maintenance of parks and recreation programs.  Idaho's six percent sales tax applies to campsites. Camping fees include the right to use designated campgrounds and facilities. Utilities and facilities may be restricted by weather or other factors. Current fees for specific sites are also listed under  the overnight opportunities for each destination park on their individual webpages.

Camping and Reservation Fee Discounts


 

RV Registration Holders

Reservation fees are waived for Idaho residents who have current, valid Idaho RV registration stickers. Reservation fees for these customers are paid for by a grant from the Idaho RV Program. Proof of registration is required at time of arrival.  

Limited Income

Idaho residents showing proof of limited income (Medicaid card) or who sign a limited income form, will receive a discount of $4 on camping. 

Idaho Disabled Veterans

Idaho resident veterans who are 100% disabled with 100% service-related disabilities receive a free campsite while camping within Idaho's State Parks and free day-use access.  Apply today. Please click here for information.

Senior Discount

Those 62 or older will receive 50% off camping fees within select Idaho State Parks. The discount is valid mid-week on stays Monday – Thursday (excluding holidays), allowing you the opportunity to experience a few of Idaho’s favorite places to play for a fraction of the cost. Cash in on your savings at any of these participating state parks:

The discount applies to campsites only and is not offered for use of premium sites, cabins, yurts, or group facilities.

Length of Stay

Length of stay is limited to 15 days in any 30-day period.

Day Use Vehicle Entrance Fee

The Day Use Vehicle Entrance Fee  is a daily charge for motorized vehicles. The $5 fee is charged when a vehicle enters a designated state park area for the day.  The fee is the same regardless of how many people are in the vehicle. Visitors entering an Idaho state park without a motorized vehicle do not pay. Day use is defined as, use of any non-camping lands and/or facilities between the hours of 7:00a.m. and 10:00p.m. unless otherwise posted.

Overnight Use Fee

$10 Overnight Use Fees are applied to non-campers leaving vehicles overnight within the park

Annual State Park Pass

An Idaho State Park nnnual pass offers tremendous savings to those who frequent their 30 state parks for day-use. The sticker offers unlimited day-use access to every Idaho State Park. (Passports expire December 31st of the sticker year).  Purchase a single pass for $40 or two for just $55!

Annual passes can be purchased at any Idaho State Park, Regional Service Center (Boise, Idaho Falls and Coeur d'Alene) by calling 1-800-247-6332, or by using the secure, online purchase portal.

Purchasing online? Purchase as many passes as you like. For your gift-giving convenience, all passes will be shipped to the purchaser's address.

Camping in Boats, Moorage

Overnight moorage for persons who have paid for a campsite is $9 for any length of vessel. The charge for overnight moorage while camping on a vessel is $10 per night. Priest Lake, Heyburn and Coeur d'Alene Parkway allow camping on your boat. You may also boat in, camp in the campground and moor your boat overnight at Heyburn and Priest Lake. The charge for any length of vessel moored at a buoy overnight is $9.

Please Remember...

When you’re trying to get away from it all, you’d rather not think about rules. Most people won’t have to give our rules much thought,because they are based on common sense and courtesy. The following are answers to frequently asked questions about rules. Your park manager can provide you with details.

Camping

There is a charge for camping, with or without hookups. Camping is permitted only in designated sites.

Quiet Hours

The hours between 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. are quiet hours, unless otherwise posted. No generators or other motorized equipment emitting sound and exhaust may be operated during quiet hours.

Campsite Parking

All boats, trailers, rigs and motorized vehicles must fit entirely within the campsite parking spur. All equipment which does not fit entirely within the campsite parking spur must be parked outside the campground in an area designated by the park manager. If no outside parking is available, a second campsite must be purchased. All camping equipment and personal belongings must be maintained within the assigned campsite. One extra vehicle is allowed per camp site for a fee of $8 per night, if it fits. If it does not, a second campsite must be purchased.

Check Out

Check-in time is 2:00 p.m. for campsites and 3:00 p.m. for facilities (local park time).

Visitors

Visitors are welcome during day use hours. They must park outside the campground, except with permission of the park manager. Visitors must pay the Day Use Vehicle Entrance Fee if they bring their vehicle into the park.

Prohibited Camping

No camping is permitted on beaches, parking lots or day use facilities.

Campfires and Fireworks

Fires are allowed only in designated areas. Fireworks are not permitted.

Motorized Vehicle Use

Motor vehicles, including motorbikes and ATVs, must stay on established roadways and in parking lots.

Pets

Pets are welcome in most parks, but you must keep them on a leash no longer than six feet, or confined to your camper. Do not leave pets unattended in a closed vehicle during the heat of the day. At night,they must be kept inside a vehicle or tent. Some parks have established pet exercise areas. Please ask. Pets are not allowed on beaches. They are not allowed at the Sandy Point Unit of Lucky Peak State Park. Pets are allowed only in the parking lot at Harriman State Park.

Resource Protection

Wildlife and vegetation are protected in all Idaho state parks.

Swimming

Swimming is authorized only in plainly marked areas. There are no lifeguards on duty. Glass containers are not allowed on beaches or at swim areas.
