SUSAN BUXTON APPOINTED TO IDAHO PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter appointed Boise attorney Susan Buxton to the Region 3 seat on the Idaho Parks and Recreation Board today. She succeeds Ernie Lombard of Eagle on the six-member board, and will serve a term extending through June 2018.
Buxton’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Idaho Senate.
“Susan has many years of experience as an attorney for cities and counties in the development and funding of parks and pathways, as well as generations of family background in enjoying Idaho’s many outdoor recreation opportunities,” Governor Otter said. “She brings great passion and perspective to her role on the Parks and Recreation Board, and I appreciate her willingness to serve.”
Buxton received a bachelor’s degree from Whitman College in Washington and her law degree from the University of Idaho. Before becoming a founding partner of the law firm Moore Smith Buxton & Turcke in 1993, she worked in a different private law practice and clerked for a federal judge in Portland and an Idaho Court of Appeals judge.
“She will be a wonderful addition to our board with her broad based knowledge of parks and recreation in Region 3,” said Nancy Merrill, director of the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. “She has extensive working relationships with recreational users throughout the state of Idaho, and broad-based experience working with local, state and federal agencies.”
The Idaho Parks and Recreation Board is tasked with setting general policy direction for leaders and staff at the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation.
