BRUNEAU DUNES STATE PARK SPARED FROM MAJOR FIRE IMPACTS
Mountain Home, ID (July 10, 2012) - The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) reported today that Bruneau Dunes State Park will re-open for visitors Wednesday, July 11, 2012, after closing Monday due to threats from lightening caused range fire.
The park was evacuated when threatened by the South Indian fire Monday evening. Fire Crews contained then extinguished the blaze before structures within the park were impacted.
Evidence of the fire is visible along the perimeter of the park but the park as a whole suffered no major damage. Park facilities, including campgrounds, the visitor center and observatory will again be open for public enjoyment Wednesday.
